Sport that wrinkled Care derides,
And Laughter holding both his sides.

Freedom has a world of sides,
And if reason once derides

Satan their vain attempts derides,
Whether they talk, or pray, or preach;
Long as the love of sin abides,

Not otherwhere than with those tides
Of pleasure on the sunned expanse,
Whose flow deludes, whose ebb derides?

SWIFT o'er the bounding deep the VESSEL glides,
Its streamers flutt'ring in the summer gales,
The lofty mast the breezy air derides,

His soul love's gentle flame derides,
And like a statue he abides

Fantastic care derides,
But in the serious landscape lone
Stern benefit abides.

This perfume comes from angel's sides
Not from the doe whom men derides

Hero and clown! O, man of many sides,
The Muse of Truth adores you and derides,

True to her course th' impetuous storm derides,
Triumphant o'er the winds, and surging tides.

Grown weary of the service, no scoffer long derides,
For past the veils and darkness, a very god abides….

His love and hers, a passioned ecstasy;
