With blessings and with hopes;
The saints of old with shadowy hands
Are pulling at your ropes.

By labouring bargemen where they shifted ropes;
E'en so shall men turn back from violent hopes

All their false deluded hopes
Will, or ought to end in ropes;

Built upon wayward slopes,
Along whose paths, as if for pity,
Ran tight-drawn golden ropes.
