“I think it's on the cards
That I can run three hundred yards

Hands down, by near a hundred yards.

You may say we are fond of an 'arness-cut, or 'ootin' in barrick-yards,
Or startin' a Board School mutiny along o' the Onion Guards;

There was Hughes, who got in trouble through that business with the cards,
It matters little what became of him;
But a steer ripp'd up Macpherson in the Cooraminta yards,

What though ice yet plate her yards;
In wintry port not less she renders
Summer's gift with warm regards!

And children can play safely in their own back yards
With their make-believe tea parties and old maid cards?.
